Objectives of The Cheltenham Group
The major objectives are :
- 'no-fault' divorce practices to be entirely removed;
- written marriage contracts to be introduced;
- judicial discretion to be removed, and the role of the judiciary to remain solely
involved with ensuring that contracts are upheld, and this without any discretion of any
sort;
- the Child Support Act to be repealed, and child support based solely on one half of the
actual cost of maintaining children;
- objectively defined criteria for the best interests of children to be used in contested
children's issues;
- wholesale reform of the Court Welfare Service, and removal of their subversive policies
such as the NAPO Anti-Sexism Policy.
The following principles to be observed in matrimonial and family law :
- no one shall profit from marriage;
- the children's true and objectively defined interests to be observed;
- lawyers to be removed from the process of divorce to ensure that only family members and
children have access to family assets and earnings.
